SKILPADSHEK – KOMATIPOORT
7 hours 29 minutes
The simplest and most convenient road trip between Botswana and Mozambique is on the N4, which cuts right through the North West, Gauteng and Mpumalanga provinces. Setting off from the Skilpadshek (Botswana/SA border post), it is a somewhat wearisome drive through dry and torrid conditions. In Pretoria, N4 comes to a dead stop at the Doornpoort Toll Plaza. It can be connected on the other side of the city, at the Pelindaba Toll Plaza. It goes through Emalahleni and past Middelberg. At Emgwenya, the
N4 brings along a trusted companion, the Elands River. Side by side, the two traipse along the lush Mpumalanga hinterland. Just before Nelspruit, the Crocodile River cuts in and dances along the N4 all the way to the Lebombo Border Post (SA/Mozambique) in Komatipoort.
