CAPE TOWN – VIOOLSDRIF
6 hours 40 minutes
The N7 is a freeway that links the Western Cape and the Northern Cape provinces. It runs from Cape Town and hugs South Africa’s entire west coast as it makes its way through the dry and arid Namaqulaland regions to the Namibian border at Vioolsdrif. It loses its limited-access freeway in certain areas and become either a single carriageway and a dual carriageway, sometimes with or without paved shoulders. The N7 spectacularly pierces through the neck of the Oliphants River Mountain chain in what is known as the Piekenierskloof Pass (formerly known as the Greys Pass). Some of the small towns it passes through include Malmesbury, Clanwilliam, Steinkopf and Springbok.
